The Crusaders
It is now just under three months since Wrexham became home to Super League’s rugby
team “The Crusaders.” The decision was made to move into Wrexham Football Club when
the Chief Executive, Paul Retout, said it would help to secure the club’s future.
He says, “We needed to do something to diversify and to protect the Racecourse going
forward.” So we decided to find out what impact this team has had on Wrexham, starting
with Crusaders coach Brian Noble.
In a telephone interview, we asked these questions:
How do you think the move has affected Wrexham? “
I am hopeful that it has
had a positive effect, and that people like it.”
Do you think moving to Wrexham has had a good effect on the club? “
Absolutely.
I think we are in a good position to represent Wales.”
What do you think Wrexham Racecourse is like as a stadium? “
Brilliant.”
What are your predictions for the club in the future? “
To be patient and
ambitious.”
What is the highlight of your career? “
I have been a very lucky person.
I have travelled the world, won trophies and I have lived my dream.”
Do you think signing Gareth Thomas will be a successful decision? “
It already
is.”
Where do you think the club will come in the league? “
I don’t know, I will
have a better answer to that halfway through the year.”
The Crusaders’ home ground since they started out in 2006 was the Brewery Field
in Bridgend, but now they’ve set they’re roots firmly in Wrexham.
