High Achievers Award
Pupils from Rhosnesni High School were amongst the winners at a glittering High Achievers Awards night at Glyndŵr University Wrexham.
Harri Lovett Year 10, received the accolade of ‘Leader Reader’ at the second annual awards, which were run in conjunction with the North Wales Crusaders Rugby League Club and Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre. Harri was described as a “special individual” and was chosen following a vote by readers of the Leader. Harri’s nomination including mentions of his work with the school council and commended his dedication despite suffering a family bereavement. Harri won his way through to the spcial award after earlier picking up the prize in the One to Watch category of the competition. He said: “I’m ecstatic about it and it’s a pleasure to be here amongst such fantastic people who have all achieved something which is quite outstanding. I try to have a positive attuitude and apply myself to my education. I am very grateful to my teachers for the drive they have provided me with.” Hollie Gibson Year 11, also won an award at the ceremony. Her award was the ‘Heart of Gold’ award.
Crusaders’ chief executive, Jamie Thomas, said: “The number of schools we have reached out to has increased as has the number of entries. These awards are recognition of the things that are going on in our schools and is all about honouring those who go unrecognised for all the good work they carry out.”
